Objectives
To successfully complete this assignment, you will be expected to:
Produce a program question that can be answered with a descriptive analysis using a measure of central tendency or a measure of variability.
Produce one program question that that can be answered with a t test or ANOVA and one program question that can be answered with a correlation, regression, or multiple regression.
Explain accurately why the analysis for each of the three program questions is appropriate for the data points available and the program questions to be answered.
Perform and report three accurate, appropriate analyses using APA-compliant format.
Produce and explain an effective chart or graph to display descriptive information about the dataset.
Instructions
Using the Food Affordability Dataset [XLSX], develop one program question that can be answered with a descriptive analysis. To achieve maximum credit on this criterion, the descriptive analysis must include a measure of central tendency (mean, median, mode) or a measure of variability (range, standard deviation, variance).
Next, develop one program question that can be answered with a t test (comparing mean scores between two groups) or an ANOVA (analysis of variance; comparing mean scores among three or more groups). To achieve maximum credit on this criterion, you must both accurately identify and thoroughly describe the program question.
Then, develop a second program question that can be answered with a correlation (direction and magnitude of a relationship between two continuous data points), regression or multiple regression (predictive equations that relate an outcome [dependent] data point to one or more predictor [independent or explanatory] data points.). To achieve maximum credit on this criterion, you must both accurately identify and thoroughly describe the program question.
For each of the three program questions you develop (1. descriptive, 2. t test or ANOVA, 3. correlation/regression/multiple regression), perform and report each of the three analyses using APA-compliant format. You should include BOTH the statistical output from JASP (Excel is also acceptable) as well as the APA-compliant interpretation and report for all three analyses. To achieve maximum credit on this criterion, you must both accurately identify and thoroughly report each of the three analyses.
Finally, produce and explain an effective chart or graph to display descriptive information about the dataset. This might include a bar chart (used to compare different categorical data points, such as males vs. females), a histogram (used to display continuous data points, such as GPA), a pie chart (used to display five or fewer categorical data points, such as race/ethnicity), or a scatterplot (used to display the relationship between two continuous data points). To achieve maximum credit on this criterion, you must accurately display and explain descriptive information about the data set within the chart or graph of your choice.
Once you have gathered this information, submit a final Word document that includes a header for each required component of this assignment. Use these provided headers (in APA-compliant format) for each section:
Descriptive Program Question.
t test or ANOVA Program Question.
Correlation, Regression, or Multiple Regression Program Question.
t test or ANOVA Explanation of Appropriateness.
Correlation, Regression, or Multiple Regression Explanation of Appropriateness.
t test or ANOVA Analysis and Interpretation.
