Objective: this project has two objectives.
1. First, is to take the time to ‘take stock’ of where we are at this point in our lives.
As it relates to the first objective, the idea is for you to take a careful and
thoughtful look at where you are at this point in life. You already have accumulated a set of experiences, you are well on your way on your educational path, you have had failures, you have had success, you have experienced joys and sorrows all to varying degrees. At this stage in life you probably also have an idea of your values and beliefs and have an idea of where you want to go in life – or are at least beginning to get a sense of where you would like to go. This last point – direction in life as it relates to occupation or profession – also has degrees – I appreciate that. Some of you have a very clear idea of where you are going, and some of you may have a fuzzy idea and some may not be clear at all and that is okay. This is still an important time in life to take a careful and thoughtful look at life, what we’ve learned about ourselves, where we are, and what’s important.
2. The second objective is to gain firsthand experience in working with ‘managing strategies.’
o As it relates to choosing strategies, in essence you will do for yourself exactly what you would do with/for a client. Based on what you learn about yourself, you will take one to three aspects that you want to improve in your life and create a detailed action plan. The ‘choosing strategies’ part of this project is what you will get from the course towards the very end of the term.
Paper Format:
Traditionally, this assignment is completed as a written paper. Should you adopt this approach,
the following expectations apply:
When done well, this project is typically in the range of 6-10 pages. This is ONLY a guideline and is NOT a requirement. I include this only because some people ask for this parameter – this number is only a guide. I know that some people may submit a paper which is a bit shorter and others may well submit a paper more than 12 pages. I’m not concerned about the length, only the quality of content and how thorough you are in incorporating course material.
How much you reveal of your life is your choice. You are under no obligation to disclose deep dark secrets. The point of this project is to fully understand and grasp moving from thought to action which of course can be done with ordinary obstacles like motivation or procrastination or organizational skills (things we all deal with to some extent). How vulnerable you make yourself in this project is entirely your choice.
o Having said that, this project like all projects in this field are bound by confidentiality. I am the only one who will read this paper.
This paper does not need to follow the usual rules of APA format. For example, writing in first person on this occasion is typical. This is not a research paper in the typical sense, meaning you don’t need references and thus no bibliography. If you do incorporate sources by all means that is fine, in which case you will have a bibliography, however, it is not a requirement.
o Aside from that, the usual rules do apply e.g. spelling, grammar, double spaced, single sided, 1” margins on all four sides, page numbers, title page, Times New Roman font, font size 12.
Alterative formats:
• I appreciate that self-reflection can manifest itself through different mediums. That is, not everyone reflects through written prose regarding who they are and what they ought to do. Therefore, I am open to receiving projects that do not adopt the typical paper format outlined above. Given the personal nature of the self-reflection project, alternative formats certainly are not for everybody. The challenge would be that students aim to be as transparent in their alternative format as they would in a written report. Some alternatives that come to mind include things like concept maps, personal journals, various artistic expressions (drawing, music, monologue, poetry, etc.) and oral presentation (in-class, virtual, video-recorded, etc.).
o The parameters for any alternative presentation should be discussed with the instructor. Content and evaluation will follow the same guidelines included below.
There are several sections that ought to be covered in your project:
Introduction
o Every project has an introduction and thus this project will have one as well. The
introduction is you telling the reader about yourself. This is essentially ‘setting the stage’ for the remaining chapters. In other words, telling the reader who you are, where you are at in this stage of life.
Strengths, Gifts and Abilities
o In this section, you have the opportunity to talk about your gifts, abilities, strengths
and so on. I want you to write this chapter without apology, without evaluation or judgment. Simply put on paper how amazing you are. In this section you will direct the conversation towards two domains. First is your gifts and abilities relative to life in general and second, relative to the content of class  Just to recap, the primary point of 366 is understanding communication and understanding ourselves with respect to our interaction with others.
• Areas Needing Further Development
o In this section, you get to write about areas in your life that need further development.
Again, relative to life in general and relative to the content of 366.
• Action Plan
o In this section you get to create a detailed action plan for 1-3 areas you identified in
the previous section. The action plan needs to reflect the course material related to ‘choosing strategies.’ Just as we did in class with the client/practitioner role play, I need your action plan to go beyond hypothetical. I need you to address the components of our course content, I need you to address scope (meaning what can I do now, through to what I will do but at a later date), and I need you to address the options in choosing strategies (specific, substantive, realistic, keeping with values, etc.). As the reader, I will be looking for how detailed, the degree to which you have addressed course content and is it clear to me (the reader) that this is a functional action plan. I will be reading with the question in my mind, is this something that the author is actually going to do – again, going beyond hypothetical.
• Conclusion
o As with any project, ensure there is an appropriate conclusion wrapping up the
themes and purposes of the project.
My name is Daman and i am an athletic indiviual, I am a kineisology student, soccer player, loves exploring nature, I am vegterian.  i am funny, adventours, vegetarian, i love volunterring and helping others. You can add on that. In this section, you have the opportunity to talk about your gifts, abilities, strengths
and so on. I want you to write this chapter without apology, without evaluation or judgment. Simply put on paper how amazing you are.
I have pasted a outline below as well.
