Objective: The goal of this assignment is to show your understanding of information presented in Chapter 13 and Chapter 14. You will read and provide a brief summary of primary sources and show your understanding of the contents as you pose questions about what you’ve read.
Instructions:
1. If you haven’t already, read the assigned chapters.
2. After reading the chapters, you’ll choose one of the “Dueling Voices” excerpts in the textbook: “Dropping the Atomic Bomb” (Section 13.4, page 559) or “Violence in Kenya” (Section 14.4, page 607). Each of these has two sources that represent varying perspectives.
3. Write a couple of sentences explaining the general topic and context of the two sources.
4. Summarize the main points of the position taken in each source. You must include at least three sentences for each source. As you’re writing, consider who the author is and what kind of motivation or bias they might have. Be sure to write the title of the one you chose at the top of the post.
5. Pose at least two questions that you would like to ask the authors of the sources. You can either have two questions about one of the sources or one to each – it’s up to you!
