you are supposed to choose a time when it would be best to input the therapy, I believe late teenage years would be best (16-18). i will provide a short trauma timeline.
provided files: instructions, short trauma timeline for Lily Bloom, & the rubric that will be followed
keep in mind that this is for a Trauma & Crisis in Counseling course
Write as if you are actually counseling them around the time that was chosen to intervene with whichever model you choose.
6 citations needed , PLEASE USE scholarly sources with DOIs that can be reopened by me if need be.
NO AI USAGE !
10 to 12 pages in length describing how student would address a particular trauma survivor using the material learned in class. This will include a rationale for what model or models of trauma therapy student selects, interventions student would use, and ways to determine effectiveness. APA format is required. (See Outline below)
TRAUMA THERAPY APPROACH- Term Paper – Outline
10 – 12 pages double-spaced; pages must be numbered; you must use APA format throughout the paper. A rubric is on this syllabus to guide your work.
Identify a person from a fictional or non-fictional book, movie, or tv series who has survived a traumatic experience. Imagine that this person is your client, and you are a professional counselor.
Describe this individual, including:
• A bio-psychosocial history of the person including their demographic information, what you think their presenting problem would be (be sure to include when/how old the client is and your counseling setting), their family background (from childhood family of origin), and personal history. Be sure to address any gaps in your knowledge of the person’s history. For example, you might not know about the person’s family of origin, cultural identity, or childhood trauma. Identify and describe traumatic experience(s) that the person survived.
Construct a timeline of the person’s development of when the trauma occurred along with any difficulties (negative coping or mental health symptoms) they experienced.
• How does the trauma appear to have impacted their life with both positive and negative effects.
Discuss the person’s positive and negative coping methods. Assess their level of risk. Use the Owens & Parson text for this section.
• Choose one model that we studied this semester (Psychodynamic, IFST, SE, EMDR, TF-CBT, or CPT) and how you might work with the person to address any posttraumatic issues or symptoms. Provide a rationale for the model you have chosen – why this model for this person.
• Describe two interventions/techniques from your selected model and how you would try with this person. Imagine how the person might respond and how the application of the model would be received. Discuss how you would determine the effectiveness.
• Using APA format, cite a minimum of six references in the text and provide a reference list at the end. Be sure to use the assigned reading relevant to your model.
