April 12, 2024

–My PICOT question: In adult patients with schizophrenia, do long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications compared to daily oral antipsychotic medication improve medication adherence within one year?
–I have attached the 3 articles that I have previously used that are to be included. The other articles chosen must be able to be downloaded.
Literature Review Guidelines
A literature review is an account of what has been published on a topic in peer-reviewed journals. The purpose of this literature review is to survey scholarly articles that are relevant to a clinical question providing a description, summary, and critical evaluation of each work. (Refer back to your PICO worksheet that has your initial search information – database, etc. and question).
In preparation for this assignment, complete the following:
Locate six articles that are related to your topic and PICOT question. These publications must be original research studies. Include at least one systematic review with meta-analysis, if possible. You may only include one qualitative study.  Failure of providing the instructor with a pdf of your articles will result in point reductions!
You are not to include published literature reviews. If you choose an article that is not of the correct type, you will lose points. Feel free to check with the instructor if you are not sure whether an article is appropriate for the review.
You may obtain these articles from TSU Library or any appropriate source. If you selected the appropriate studies for the quantitative, qualitative, and systematic review with meta-analysis critiques, they can be included as three of the six studies for the literature review. Your paper should be 6- 8 pages in length not including the abstract or references. PAPERS MORE THAN 8 PAGES IN LENGTH WILL NOT BE GRADED.
You are to use APA format and the paper should be organized as follows:
Title Page (APA format)
Abstract (APA format and include key words)
Introduction:
Introduce the problem, define the health problem you are presenting
Include your PICO(T) question
Discuss the prevalence and impact of the problem.
Complete this with a general statement on research in the field. (Be sure to include the purpose of your paper in the introduction.)
Analysis:
In the literature review you will present six (6) research studies that have relevance to your PICOT question
Present research on the nursing related clinical topic identified in your PICOT question, guiding the reader through a presentation of each research study.
Summarize the research. Analyze the validity and methods of each study.
Consistencies and Contradictions:
Point out consistencies and contradictions in the literature, and offer possible explanations for inconsistencies
Conclusions/Recommendations:
State what is known and still not known about the problem,
Provide preliminary conclusions on whether the research provides strong evidence to support a change in practice, or whether further research is needed to adequately address your inquiry.
