Prepare a PowerPoint presentation giving the
relevant information a public relations practitioner would need in order to
pitch your outlet or set of outlets.
Describe information such as relevant
programs (for broadcast) or sections and columns (for print), global reach, and
audience/distribution.
Provide contact information for pitching stories. (like actual number and names)
If you
have selected a region of the world, highlight about ten of the top media
players in your region with basic information about their geographical reach,
readership/viewership and, where appropriate, reputation for a particular point
of view.
You will be assessed on your knowledge of
how individual media outlets cover particular topics, your ability to
communicate the ways in which practitioners need to adapt their pitches to
individual media outlets, and your use of college-level written and oral
communication skills.
Students will present in class on the
dates that their topics are listed on the syllabus.
Your presentation should be no more than 10 minutes long. Please upload your
presentation under the “Media Outlet Presentations” tab on Webcampus prior to
the class session in which you present.
