Movie: The Social Network (2010)
The main goal of this assignment is to analyze the leadership traits (or lack of leadership) that some of the characters in your chosen book or movie are demonstrating – you’re using a theoretical perspective of leadership of your choosing as a sort of lens to analyze this through.

In the discussion/analysis section, you’re a) describing what you observed in the book or movie and analyzing any applicable dilemma(s) through the leadership theoretical perspective/theory of your choice, b) going over some of the choices that were made in the movie/book and even coming up with a couple of choices/solutions of your own that you think the character(s) could/should have taken, and c) giving recommendations on strategies that the characters could have done differently for outcomes of even higher success (it’s up to you how you want to define “success” in the context of what’s going on in the movie or book you select).
You are not expected to compare/contrast multiple styles of leadership and the “key leadership strategies” can a) come from any source you’d like as long as it’s cited, and b) can be used as an umbrella term to help with your analysis of what happened in the book or movie.
There is some purposeful latitude given for this assignment since what’s being analyzed can differ depending on which book or movie each student chooses – the main objective is to analyze the leadership traits (or lack thereof) that certain characters in the book or movie you choose are demonstrating…followed by your recommendations on improvements that the characters could then demonstrate.
Select and utilize a theoretical leadership perspective and strategy to develop and write a Leadership Media
Project paper which will include analysis of the leadership or power/influence, or the lack of these,
displayed in the situational events in the book or movie. The approach to the paper should be formal
and scholarly.
I. Introduction (30 points)
Introduce the purpose and major points you plan to make in your paper
II. Discussion and Analysis (40 points)
Briefly describe the media selection (make sure you cite the source)
Describe the leadership style or influence/power and the possible choices that could be made
Select a theoretical perspective to analyze the dilemma; based on the literature, describe and utilize this theory in an analysis of the situation
Recommend strategies for successful outcomes
III. Conclusion/Summary (20 points)
Briefly summarize the major points you made throughout your paper
IV. Additional Criteria (10 points)
Follows APA format and adheres to: a minimum of 4 pages of text and a maximum of 6 pages
of text (excluding title and reference page(s))
Utilizes correct grammar, spelling and sentence construction
Double-spaced, Times New Roman font, 12 point size
Uses a clear and organized style of writing
Includes at least four (4) scholarly nursing or nursing-related journal references from within the last 5 years (You may use older materials if they are seminal or historical works)
