Module 5 Feeling Vampires (and Vampire Hunters!) (20 points)
Vampire relations. As the vampire image becomes more incorporated into broader culture, the vampire’s relations with humans become more elaborated. The psychology and motivations of humans who associate themselves with the vampire become explored. Relationships of care, concern, and emotional attachment begin to emerge alongside the depictions of coercion, deception and duplicity familiar from earlier folklore and Victorian representations. Vampire-to-vampire relations become depicted alongside vampire-to-human relations. These tendencies hold not only for vampires but also for vampire hunters.
Module 5 creative assignment
Imagine a radio talk show program organized by the BBC. In it, the host will facilitate a conversation between Dracula and one of the three figures from this module—Blade, Mamuwalde, or Louis. (For the sake of the interview, Dracula is not dead: he still exists in his “undead” state.) The more modern vampire figure will probably already be aware of Dracula, at least by reputation, while Dracula is not likely to have ever met Blade, Mamuwalde, or Louis. (If you choose Mamuwalde, you can choose to have Dracula be Stoker’s, or the same Dracula that transformed him in the movie). Write the script for the interview, with a length of 500 words (max.). Then include an artist statement of 250 words (max.) that explains what you have sought to bring out in your interview, what themes you see as key to explore and how you approached the task. Combine both the script and the artist statement into a single pdf and upload to the Canvas site by the assigned due date.
Above is the task requirement.
