Module 11 Discussion
This discussion board is worth 40 points. There are 2 parts to this discussion board. To answer the questions, you should write a solid paragraph for each of your responses and you should use and cite examples from the course materials in the Week 11 module. Please be sure to also respond to your classmate’s posts. When you can, use examples (evidence) to support your claims in your discussion posts. If you use an exact quote, MLA-style citations are fine: (Sanchez, 89) or (Zinn, 432) works. Be sure to save your work before submitting your responses to the discussion board. Part I: Due by Wednesday, May 15 at 11:59 PM PST.
1. Based on the Zinn chapter “The Impossible Victory: Vietnam,” use specific examples with citations to answer the following questions:
a) Why did the U.S. government intervene in Vietnam?
b) What did the U.S. military do in Vietnam?
c) What did the war do to U.S. society?
2. Based on the Shulman chapter “That Bitch of a War: LBJ and Vietnam,” use specific examples with citations to answer the following questions:
a) Why did the U.S. government intervene in Vietnam?
b) What did the U.S. military do in Vietnam?
c) What did the war do to U.S. society?
3. Using specific examples with citations from this week’s materials (videos and digital readings), compare the Chicano movement with the women’s movement? What was similar and what was different in these two movements?
