Part 1: Bibliography
The purpose of this assignment is to get you started doing the research for your paper and presentation. The following are the requirements of the assignment:
• You are required to find a minimum of five sources.
• For each source, you will give the citation. Please use MLA as the citation style. Here’s a link to help you with the MLA formatting:
MLA Formatting and Style Guide
• After the citation, provide a 1-2 sentence description of the source as well as a couple of sentences describing how the source will be useful for your project.
• You are required to draw information from multiple kinds of sources including  scholarly journal articles, books, newspaper and magazine articles, and relevant websites. International Organization and NGO websites are especially useful.
Remember to be thoughtful about the sources you use. For instance information on terrorism drawn from the Center for Defense Information website will probably be more reputable than information drawn from Bob’s Blog on Terrorism. Some places to start include, www.globalissues.org, especially the links that it provides. The Council on Foreign Relations website (cfr.org) is also really useful. Various organizations under the umbrellas of the United Nations can be valuable resources. NGOs websites may also be good sources of information depending on the topic. There are also numerous databases that you have access to through the library’s website. These include but are not limited to: Academic Search Complete, CQ Researcher Plus Archive, PAIS International, AccessWorld News, eBook Collection, Google Scholar.
Part 2: Arguable Question
Along with your bibliography, you are to submit your arguable question.
An arguable question is:
Not solved.
Not a fact that you could easily look up.
Something people have different views about.
Is a contemporary global issue.
The CQ Researcher articles were reading this semester are good examples of exploratory essays. They contain many examples of arguable questions.
In the video below, I discuss a little more about what I’m looking for the arguable question.
