Overview:
In your previous submission for Project 2: Mind Map and Written Reflection you selected a black hood cultural producer and mapped out their connections to key theoretical traditions such as Black Feminisms, Afterlife of Slavery, and Genocide Scholarships, and relevant findings from Black/Feminist Urban Ethnography. This project was a preliminary step to writing your Final Essay and opening a space for you to structure information, analyze and comprehend connections, synthesize thoughts, and generate new ideas.
For Project 3, 25% of your grade will be based on your submission of a Final Essay that describes and analyzes: (1) your previously selected black hood cultural producer and their alignment with key theoretical traditions such as Black Feminisms, Afterlife of Slavery Scholarships, and Genocide Scholarships; (2) relevant scientific findings from Black/Feminist Urban Ethnography that substantiates or challenges their cultural productions; and (3) the implications of all of this for developing a broader understanding of black lives, cultures and spaces in low-income neighborhood environments.
In other words, you are transforming your Project 2: Mind Map into a formal university-level academic essay with a thesis statement that is presented in your Introduction Paragraph and proven and supported throughout your Body Paragraphs. And finally, the essay is wrapped up with closing thoughts in your Conclusion Paragraph.

Essay Guide:
A good answer will articulate an understanding of Black Feminisms, Afterlife of Slavery Scholarships, and Genocide Scholarships and their connections to the selected black hood cultural producer as well as their politics and productions (Theory Connections).
A good answer will also situate the selected cultural producer and their productions in relation to relevant scientific evidence from Black/Feminist Urban Ethnography (Scientific Findings Connections).
A good answer will point to tangible examples from the selected artist’s cultural productions (e.g. pieces of artistry, music/videos, images, songs, lyrics, social media posts, public/political acts, etc.) and discuss how they elucidate your argument about their connection to these key theoretical traditions and scholarships.
A good answer will be sure to make clear connections amongst the selected Theory and Scientific Findings in order to make a cohesive argument about how all this relates to the selected cultural producer and their alignment with Black Feminisms, Afterlife of Slavery Scholarships, Genocide Scholarships, and Black/Feminist Urban Ethnography and the implications of all of this for developing a broader understanding of black lives, cultures and spaces in low-income neighborhood environments.
A good answer will be sure to offer a critical and concise thesis statement that captures the overarching argument of the essay in the Introduction Paragraph, prove and support this argument throughout the Body Paragraphs, and wrap up with closing thoughts in the Conclusion Paragraph.
