HRM 699 Capstone Project Rubric and Suggested Outline
Capstone Project:  The capstone project is designed to provide students with the opportunity to leverage the knowledge learned in the MS program in an applied manner. Students will research and select an organizationand perform a thorough analysis of the company’s HR strategy. IF YOU WISH TO USE YOUR CURRENT ORGANIZATION, THAT IS PREFERRED-JUST DISCUSS WITH ME FIRST.
The capstone report should be approximately 10-15 pages in length and must be typed using double spaced 12-point font. The Capstone may NOT EXCEED 15 PAGES, exclusive of reference page. Each capstone report must include a table of contents, citations where needed, and a complete reference list. APA style and formatting should be used.
Students are required to propose a project that will allow them to demonstrate their level of competency across all of the course/program objectives as indicated in the table below:

The outline should follow the grading rubric content as follows: In other words, your table of contents should have 8 different categories. Please be sure to USE HEADINGS within your paper so that I know when you are moving from one category to another. Please see below. 
Grading Rubric for the HRM Capstone Project:
1. Planning. Research the organization that you are going to select. What is the company’s history and background? Be sure you can find enough information on it to adequately address the items below. Use APA format for any citations. +10
2. Determine labor needs. As HR, how do you find out what the labor needs of the organization will be? What growth or decline is expected in the organization? How will this impact your workforce? What is the economic situation? (HRM 601) +20
3. Determine recruiting strategy. Once you have a plan in place, it’s necessary to write down a strategy addressing how you will recruit the right people at the right time. (HRM 601, 603) +10
4. Select employees. The selection process consists of the interviewing and hiring process. (HRM 602, 603) +10
5. Develop training. Based on the strategic plan, what training needs are arising? Is there new software that everyone must learn? Are there problems in handling conflict? (HRM 603) +10
6. Determine compensation. In this aspect of the HRM plan, the manager must determine pay scales and other compensation such as health care, bonuses, and other perks. (HRM 602, 604) +20
7. Appraise performance. Sets of standards need to be developed so you know how to rate the performance of your employees and continue with their development. (HRM 602, 603) +5
8. Ethical considerations and other factors. Think about the ethical implications of your plan, where appropriate, and how HRM 605 (HRIS) 606 (CSR and Sustainability) and 607 (Diversity & Globalization) may be addressed. +10 
9. Writing your report. 10-15 pages in length-double-spaced; 12-point font; APA citation format. +5
