Please note I will be ordering an additional paper, my final essay which will have to refer back to this paper. I will place that order tonight as well. Thank you so much for your help!!! An abstract is a short summary of an essay or article. An abstract can also constitute a proposal for an essay that has yet to be written.
Your abstract will propose the main argument of your final essay and should be between 250-300 words. In addition to your proposal abstract, you will create an annotated bibliography. STOP. Go Back. Click on the link for your final essay.
Make sure that you understand each assignment and their relationship to each other. Contact me if you have questions. An annotated bibliography is a list of sources formatted according to MLA guidelines. It is much like a works cited page except that it also includes brief summaries of the source’s content.
Your annotated bibliography should include each of the five sources (two of which should be scholarly) you plan to use in your final paper. Your annotated should be between 100-250 words. If your source includes an abstract, do NOT simple copy or paraphrase the abstract.
NOTE: As you write your final paper, you may find that you decide not to use one or more of the sources you listed in your annotated bibliography. Similarly, you may find that you would like to include additional source(s). This is part of the writing process and is perfectly permissible.
The purpose of the annotated bibliography assignment is to provide you structure for your research process and to reflect your research and documentation skills. NOTE: While you are welcome to use The New Jim Crow and/or Are Prisons Obsolete? in your final paper, they will not count as one of your sources for this assignment or the final paper.
