(Length: 5-6 pages)
Do one of the following:
Design a survey of at least ten items to address the hypotheses or research questions you developed in your literature review. Phrase each survey question according to the rules of survey design discussed in your reading and in class. Explain why you included each question and why you constructed it the way you did. Administer the survey with a sample of at least 30 respondents. (I recommend using an online tool like Microsoft Forms. You can use Canvas to share it with the class and fill out others’ surveys.) Explain your sampling method and survey method (paper-and-pencil, face-to-face interview, phone, mail, etc.). Briefly summarize the findings of your survey and discuss your interpretation of the results.
Do in-depth interviews to address the hypotheses or research questions you developed in your literature review. Design an appropriate set of interview questions according to the guidelines discussed in reading and class. Interview at least five respondents, recording and transcribing each interview. Explain your interview questions, the choice of respondents and setting, the length of the interviews, and the method of recording and transcription. Briefly report your findings and discuss your interpretation of the findings.
Whichever option you choose, you should avoid any questions or interactions that may cause risk or discomfort to your respondents. Also, be sure to protect the anonymity or confidentiality of your respondents. Your publication and use of information that you gain from this research should be limited to this paper assignment and the subsequent poster session. If you expect to make further use of the data (i.e. in a conference submission) please discuss this with me.
