used to develop a project proposal that contributes to academic or professional knowledge
and understanding, and identify relevant Legal, Social, Ethical and Professional Issues
related to the proposed project.
2. Critically evaluate the range of qualitative and quantitative data and information collection
strategies that can be used and make informed decisions about which are relevant for
different purposes.
Assessment Task
Overview of report
The research proposal should be a maximum of 3000 words. You must adhere to the format
required by the LJMU postgraduate program. The section below is an outline meant to assist you in
beginning to develop your research proposal.
Abstract
In your abstract you should follow the following guidelines:
• Clearly state the purpose or objective of the study or document. What was the main goal of
the research or writing?
• Briefly describe the methods or approach used to conduct the study or research. This could
include the study design, data collection methods, and analytical techniques.
• Summarize the main results or findings of the study. Highlight the key outcomes or
discoveries.
Introduction
In your introduction you should follow the following guidelines:
• Before describing the exact research subject, you are proposing, make sure the proposal
begins on a broad level with some sort of introductory remarks. This can be achieved by
giving a context, a definition, or a discussion of the topic′s importance in the field.
• State the query, concern, or overall issue that you are researching. When formulating the
precise study question, authors of research proposals frequently take too long. As early as
the second or third paragraph, be careful to state the research question. Make sure the
research question is presented in whole and in one location.
• Talk about what other studies have discovered about your research topic and how your
findings connect to those of other authors on the subject.
Literature review
The purpose of the literature review is to situate your study about previous research and other
studies in your field. It honors other academics and gives you a chance to highlight the novel aspects
of your study. Indicate whether you are expanding on a prior study or a well-accepted theory, filling
in any knowledge gaps, or advancing your understanding by doing a study using a new or more
thorough approach. The literature review should ideally discuss at least five additional studies. Once
you′ve finished writing the literature review, proofread it to ensure clarity. Check to see whether you
can easily spot how the project is expanding on prior research as well as pursuing a novel area of
inquiry.Research Methodology
For your research methodology, you should use the following guidelines:
• Describe in detail your general research plan as well as the precise techniques and
procedures you
• Employed to conduct your study. The methodology needs to be sufficiently explicit for
replication.
• Cite the pertinent studies if you are using a methodological technique created by someone
else.
• Provide pictures, charts, and diagrams as necessary for your discipline. Give a diagram of
the experimental setup along with a list of the instruments you utilized.
• If applicable, describe your theoretical approach or style of analysis (feminist, Marxist,
Freudian, etc.). Talk about the sources that were utilized (primary or secondary texts,
interviews, surveys, personal notes, etc.).
• Describe your procedures in full detail. As an illustration, give details about your
measurement procedures, the concentrations, and amounts you used, how you chose your
research participants, the psychological tests you used, a copy of your survey questionnaire,
a desсrіption of the statistics you used, how you defined your focus in terms of a historical
time frame, etc.
• Describe any restrictions your study has on the validity and usefulness of the findings.
References
On a different page, list the books or publications you cited in your proposal. Typically, this is done
alphabetically by the author′s last name. However, the format requirements vary depending on the
field. The best course of action is to look at the research publications you have been assigned to
study if your university has not already specified the style to follow.
