This paper should be both reflective and critical of your identity as an anti-racist leader. Approximate length is 16-18 pages, not including references. Please see the rubric to help guide your writing. You are expected to use the articles and scholarship discussed in or assigned as part of this course.
Leadership is not identity-neutral. In this first section, identify how culture and identity inform and impact your leadership. Where does this come from? What do you see related to culture and identity in your own leadership? What were your first or earliest messages you have had about leadership? How is leadership socially, institutionally, and individually constructed for you? (approximately 6 pages)
White supremacy culture and white professional norms are embedded in our schools, organizations, and policies. Using the name it, own it, interrupt it framework, how have white professional norms informed and impacted your leadership and your work environment, and what is your role as an anti-racist leader in this space?
Where will you experience risk and conflict? What does disruption and redistribution of power look like to you in this space? What is the role of decolonization and the decolonization of your education? (approximately 6 pages)
In this context of the global pandemic – which includes both COVID 19 and racial injustice — how has this course awakened or deepened your understanding of important commitments such as diversity, inclusion, equity, access, and leadership (to name a few) and to changes in your own leadership practice?
What changes do you believe need to be made in your practice or your leadership in order to continue this commitment to these core values?
Where will you experience conflict and risk as you build your anti-racist leadership practice? What systems will serve as barriers?
