Students are expected to use social investigation methods to create an asset map of their local communities using online mapping software. The asset maps should focus on a specific rural area or community. It may or may not focus on a single population, need, or issue faced by the community. Students will use the Asset Mapping Toolkit provided in class as a guide for completing this project. The findings will be presented in an online 3MT video format via GoReact. Partial assignment submissions will not be graded and will earn 0 points.
Rural Community Asset Mapping

Presentation (8 points): Students will give a 3
minute presentation of their social investigation
process and map. Students should show and
explain the overall purpose of their map and the
content of the map, as well as the social
investigation methods they used to create the
map. GoReact will be used to create the video.
Videos should be about 3 minutes long. The
video must be captioned with 100% accuracy.
Videos will be uploaded into GoReact. Student
provides questions for further consideration/
discussion in the video for peers to respond to.
