Just fix my essay
rompt
Your final assignment has two parts and you will turn in two separate documents:
Use the feedback provided by your instructor and your peer reviewer to revise your essay and improve its quality;
As part of this revision process, you will choose two aspects of writing (e.g. topic sentences, thesis statements, introduction of sources, etc.) and write two 200- to 300-word reflections on how you addressed each of these topics in your revision (one reflection for each topic).
Purpose
The goal of the final assignment is to help you improve as a writer and apply the writing lessons provided during the quarter.
Specific instructions
The writing topics you choose to reflect upon should relate to the major issues brought up by your instructor in their feedback to you, either in the margins or the summary comment. If the writing topics you choose to reflect upon do not relate to your instructor’s feedback, there will be a limit to how well you can do.
Your reflections should describe your thinking during the revision process. This includes the following:
your reasons for choosing each of the two writing topics to reflect upon;
your reasons for specific changes you made related to those topics;
talking about different options you considered;
questions you have or had about what to do;
the writing resources you consulted, if any, during the process; and
how revising these paragraphs relate to your overall development as a writer, including feedback on other assignments in this course as well as writing instruction from other courses and in high school.
Your reflections should avoid the following mistakes:
Listing your revisions without telling us your reasoning;
Trying to convince us that your revisions are perfect; or
Talking generally about what makes good writing.
Your reflection should tell us the reasons for your changes and how these changes relate to writing topics you have chosen to reflect upon, such as organization, use of evidence, paraphrasing, or sentence structure. We want you to recount your thought process, your questions about writing, and your reasoning for your final choices.
While we expect you to use complete sentences for your reflections, this writing does not need to have a formal structure and is comparable to a course reading response. Attach a 200- to 300-word reflection for each writing topic you will focus on in your revision (400 to 600 words total). Put the name of each writing topic above each reflection.
Before starting your revision, we suggest you read the Sample Reflections from previous quarters.
Submission instructions
Once you have finished revising your essay, save the file using the following format “FinalAssignment_Yourlastname.”
You will then submit a separate document with your two reflections. Remember to clearly label each reflection with the name of the writing topics you have chosen.. Save this file using the following format  “WritingReflection_Yourlastname.”
We encourage you to review the original Research Paper assignment to re-read the prompt, view the recommended structure, find helpful resources, and look again at the rubric we used to evaluate your work.
**IMPORTANT – Do not start your revision until you receive specific instructions from your teaching assistant. Some TAs might require you to work directly in the document that contains their comments. Your teaching assistant will send an announcement with specific instructions shortly after we return your research papers.
Evaluation
The teaching team will evaluate both the quality of your revision and your reflections to determine your final grade.  Make sure you address the specific comments provided by your instructor. If you have a different idea about how to best revise and reflect upon your term paper that you’d like to pursue, consult with your TA.
Here are the guidelines we will use to evaluate your assignment.
Grade
Revision
Reflection
A Revisions thoroughly resolve the issues raised in the feedback for the paper and meet all the appropriate standards from the research paper rubric.
Reflections demonstrate a thorough understanding of the feedback and rigorous engagement in trying to improve the selected aspects of writing.
B Revisions represent a substantial improvement in the issues raised in the feedback without reducing the quality of the overall paper.
Reflections demonstrate an overall understanding of the feedback and a strong attempt to improve the selected aspects of writing
C
Revisions represent a slight improvement in the issues raised in the feedback, but there is no improvement or a slight decline in the quality of the overall paper
Reflections demonstrate a partial understanding of the feedback and a genuine attempt to improve the selected aspects of writing
D and F
Revisions do not resolve the issues raised in the feedback or generate additional problems related to organization, evidence, or language.
Reflections demonstrate a lack of understanding of the feedback and issues with the original paper and little to no interest in the craft of writing
If you have questions about the criteria we will use to evaluate your assignment, ask your TA or instructor.
