Journal article reviews are assignments provided by professors to assist students in enhancing
their research skills, locating primary/reliable sources, and extracting relevant information from
these sources. Becoming proficient in locating peer reviewed journal articles and reviewing
these sources for relevant information/data will be extremely helpful when writing research
papers, signature assignments, or other assigned written assignments. Scholarly reviews of
peer reviewed journal articles can be standalone assignments or part of a larger research paper.
For this course, you will review two peer reviewed journal articles and complete a double
spaced, two-page scholarly review of the articles. You will the find the peer reviewed journal
articles located in Week One and Week Two for the scholarly reviews. These sources and
information located through the scholarly reviews can be incorporated with your signature
assignment or other written assignments for this course.
Instructions:
1) Read the peer reviewed articles from the beginning to the end. There will be sections of
interest to extract the information needed. These sections are: Abstract, Introduction,
Methodology, Findings, Conclusion, and Recommendations. Gaining a better
understanding of the text may require for you to read the article in full, or portions of
the article, more than once.
2) The scholarly journal review will need to contain a paragraph or two, summarizing each
of the following:
• What was the purpose of the article?
• What was the study about?
• How was the research conducted?
• What were the findings of the research?
• Summarize the conclusion provided by the author(s).
• What were the recommendations provided by the author(s) for future studies?
The scholarly journal review will require a cover and reference page, which are not part of your
two-page assignments. You need to correctly cite your source.
Your assignment must be formatted according to APA Style guidelines.
