Ive already written a version which was stated to not meet requirments and didnt go in depth
Essay Assignment Topic — Health and Society
The purpose of this essay is to apply C. Wright Mills’ sociological imagination in reflecting on your own experiences with regard to health, medicine, and the larger social forces that have shaped them.
Read Conley’s chapter 11 on health and society. (You may go ahead and take the Inquizitive quiz on this chapter now if you like.) Please also watch the video, A Recipe for Health Equity in the 21st Century: Renaisa Anthony. You may also use material from other chapters in the text, though the topics covered in chapter 11 should be your focus.
Describe your own specific observations on these topics with regard to yourself, your family, or your community. Then use material from both Conley, chapter 11 and the video, to analyze sociologically your observations. Apply the sociological imagination by making connections between individual circumstances and the larger social forces that shape them. For example, how have your socioeconomic status (or that of your family), race, gender, or other life conditions and experiences shaped your health outcomes, access to health care, relationships with health professionals, or perceptions of health and illness?
Important: Use information from Conley throughout your essay to analyze and support your observations. Be sure to cite appropriately–all in-text citations MUST include a page number. Plagiarism (not crediting the sources of your ideas), even if unintentional, will not be accepted. Using an AI-enabled website to write or edit your paper will earn a zero for the assignment, which means you will not be able to earn a passing grade for the course.
The finished essay should be about 1000-1200 words, double-spaced. This must be a cohesive essay, meaning an introduction and conclusion, full sentences and paragraphs, no bullet points. Follow all requirements for written work in the syllabus, including proofreading to be sure your work is free of grammar and spelling errors. Save your essay in one of the accepted file formats: .docx, .pdf, or .rtf.
In sum, then, the REQUIREMENTS for the essay are (you can consider this a checklist or rubric):
The primary focus of the essay is a description and analysis of your own observations of health, illness, and health care (as opposed to a general discussion of the topic based mostly on the textbook)
Your discussion provides specific examples of your firsthand observations and connects them to issues raised by Conley and Anthony
Specific information (whether summarized, paraphrased, or quoted) from Conley supports your analysis and discussion
Ideas from Conley and Anthony are cited correctly, using both in-text cites (with page numbers or video time stamps) and a Works Cited list
The essay has an introduction, paragraphs, transitions between ideas, and a conclusion
The essay has been proofread for grammar and spelling
The essay is approximately 1000-1200 words (This is intended as a guideline to give you a sense of the expected scope of the assignment. If you have written significantly less, expand on your ideas in more depth; significantly more, edit out ideas not directly related and cut out wordy phrasing and repetition.)
