It is the DISCUSSION part of the thesis that i need so very much help with.. So thats what the six pages are for. I really am having a tough time getting started with this chapter and my deadline is in under two weeks..
My MSc is about a lake in Norway where we looked at:
How the changes in climate and weather conditions are affecting the thermal stratification in Lake Årungen,
How this thermal stratification and the redistribution of oxygen in the water column will impact the levels of nitrate and release of phosphorus in the lake
These are the two objectives, they HAVE to stay the same. My thesis is heavily based on another paper, by Pia Frostad (2018) and i will send it. This should be of good help.
A lot of my discussion should look the same as hers. But since i have had zero phosphate values which means no internal phosphorus loading from the sediments, i feel like i have less to write about than her when it comes to this. It is important however to use her data from 2017-2018 AND from the two previous years to compare with my data along the way. When it comes to both nutrients, temperature values and oxygen (the stratification and anoxic condition timing) etc.
There are notes that i will send, and this is mostly the same as you will find in Pia Frostads thesis’ discussion part. How the climate impacts on the stratification formation. Comparisons of the air temperatures and this stratification/anoxia in hypolimnion over the four years (my values, Pia 2017/18 values, 2014 and 2009 values that are in her thesis) nitrate values, how much is used during stratification, making a nitrate decomposition rate, if the values hit the nitrate threshold for leaking of phosphate (internal P loading).
Further points i havent worked on which NEEDS to be in it are:
1- assess the effect of N limiting measures in a changed climate
2- estimate the amount of N that is removed in the deep water of Årungen
TELL ME what i can do as we proceed, I will try my best if we try to collaborate! 🙂
I am sending my full dataset which of course is what you will need to be using, and i will send what is written on the thesis so far, and PiaFrostads thesis. I will work on my introduction, method and results as it needs some addition and revision (intro might have some good info for you but it is not all going to remain), while you guys hopefully help with the discussion. I am having terrible writers block and really dont want to not skip this last part of my 6 year education. Thank you so much for your help! I also sent an article named “Phenological shifts in lake strat……” for input with the climate section. I have ways to find literature so if there is anything in perticular please tell me.
I think everything in my outline should be in English, if some is Norwegian and translate isnt any good then ask me:)
