It is estimated that a project manager spends between 75-80% of the time communicating project progress and changes that happen during project execution. Managing change is a critical activity that needs to be planned, documented, and carefully evaluated. The changes must be evaluated; justified; and approved, put on a backlog for future work, or rejected.
For this assignment, you must design a change management strategy for your project or organization. This enterprise-wide change management program will set the standards for conflict resolution and change request logging and evaluation. Your document should also discuss the importance of performing an evaluation on a regular and frequent schedule (quarterly, per semester, yearly), expected outcomes, and the impact of not performing an evaluation.
Begin by determining where the organization, department, or project team is in terms of organizational maturity. Then locate three academic articles that discuss the corporate and project maturity model, especially the OPM3 model published by PMI and the standard published by CMMI Institute, the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).
You must also create a memo to management/stakeholders explaining the maturity model for the PMO to be administered as a standard in all business units, programs, and projects. Create and describe the elements of each phase in the maturity categorization matrix and design a maturity assessment survey and determine to which maturity level each is aligned.
