The assignment is to write a 7 paragraph essay, which of course means 5 paragraphs in the body. The challenge will be for you to organize your thoughts so that you have 5 distinctive sub-ideas that support or fortify your main thesis. Many of you are still losing valuable points as you falter in the introduction; remember the introduction should set the tone, the background of the issue in a larger context and then funnel down to your main idea/thesis in the last sentence of the introduction paragraph. NEVER argue the specifics of your case in the introduction; just provide an overview of your case, which is called the thesis statement.
Because there are so many essay prompts from which to choose, I require that you first inform me of what the prompt is, so I understand the directions. As a result, the start of your essay will look something like this:

To Obey or Not to Obey, That Is the Question
Since the beginning of recorded human history, some six thousand years ago, humans have been obsessed with the concept of loyalty, whether it be to one’s family, clan, empire or a leader. In fact, even the Bible book of Genesis, which is traced back to around the year 4000 B.C.E (if one assumes the historicity of Genesis) opens up with the drama involving the issue of loyalty involving whether or not Eve would refrain from tasting the fruit from the forbidden tree, as mandated by God, or would cave in to the tempting words of the spirit entity using the snake as a ventriloquist. The results of Eve “failing” this test of loyalty plunged human society into chaos and sin, all of which underscores the dire ramifications of ignoring loyalty. (Now if I were writing this essay, I would continue for another 4-5 sentences tracing how loyalty has been viewed historically, BEFORE arriving at my own thesis).
