Instructions
This assignment is designed to get the student familiarized with using the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition style of writing. To meet the student learning outcome of communication, the student should be proficient in both oral and professional writing. After reviewing the documents in the module and the document APA Information and Examples, construct an example of a paraphrase and quote. This assignment must be in the APA template provided at the top of the assignment.
Read pages 169-173 of the document titled The Future of Nursing: Leading Change Advancing Health from the Institute for Medicine. This document is in the module as a stand-alone document or is located under readings and resources as a url link.
Using the APA template attached to this assignment, create a document. Make sure you follow the directives on the title page. For assistance, see the document in the module titled APA Information and Examples.
Use the following headings:
Introduction (all headings bold)
An introduction typically begins with a few general statements (three to five) about the topic, followed by a purpose. Purpose statements go at the end of the introduction paragraph, feel free to use the one provided. The intent of the purpose statement is to let the reader know what will be discussed in the paper or discussion. Remember all paragraphs have at least three to five substantive statements. Please do not list any references in the introduction. A good introduction should stand on its own. In other words, the reader should be able to read the introduction and fully understand what is in the paper. An easy way to think about it is all those items in headings. Here is an example of a purpose statement for this assignment. “The purpose of this discussion is to review the literature to determine the reasons why the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in nursing is necessary.”
BSN Necessity
Under this heading, create a paragraph to describe why BSN nurses are needed, according to the readings with a reference. Remember to follow the APA tips. Paragraphs have at least three to five substantive statements and should contain some of your own words.
Next, create one quote from the readings (either a short or long quote). Remember, quotes need an author, year, and page or paragraph number. For help, see the document in Module 2 titled APA Information and Examples.
Conclusion
Provide a conclusion, with at least 8–10 substantive statements to summarize the information above. Conclusions typically do not contain references.
Reference Page (goes on its own page)
Provide at least one reference, see below.
