INSTRUCTIONS
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate understanding of the key course required concepts and learning objectives.
Assignment Requirements
Requirement 1: Overview (average length ½-3/4 of a page)
Open your paper with an over arching introduction. This part of your paper should accomplish two things: 1) Introduce the importance of addressing negotiation and conflict resolution effectively; and 2) Preview the remaining sections of the paper.
Requirement 2: Concept Identification & Analysis (average length 4 pages)
From the previous weeks’ readings, you will highlight the most important concepts/strategies from our course texts to discuss your top 4 conflict and negotiation “take-away” concepts from the course as follows:
1. One take-away concept related to conflict resolution from the DuBrin text
2. One take-away concept related to effective negotiation from the DuBrin text
3. One take-away related to conflict resolution from the HBR texts
4. One take-away related to effective negotiation from the HBR texts
For each of the take-away concepts you identify, you must:
(a) Explicitly identify the concept/strategy/model;
(b) Fully define and describe the concept/strategy/model according to the required source;
(c) Critically analyze the concept which includes describing the significance- why/how it is valuable in the real-world, discuss any potential short-comings or pitfalls, support with real-world examples (either that you personally experienced or a real company example you read about in the text, news, etc; be sure to rely on academically appropriate sources and cite).
Remember that the purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate understanding of these concepts, explicitly identifying, explicitly defining, and clear fully-developed critical analysis is how understanding is demonstrated. Incomplete, brief, vague identification or discussion, results in not clearly demonstrating understanding.
Requirement 3: Professional Growth (suggested length – 1 page)
Throughout the course you completed self-quizzes, from the DuBrin (2020) textbook that provide an opportunity for students to reflect on how they currently rate on aspects of behavior related to negotiation or conflict resolution, such as negotiating style or disposition to engage in personal conflict. Select one of the self-quizzes and discuss what the self-quiz scores suggest about your perspective on negotiation/conflict related concepts. Explicitly identify which quiz you are examining. Explain what the quiz is evaluating, provide detailed introspective critical analysis related to the meaning of your scores. Communicate the insight you have gained related to professional development opportunities as a result of the self-quiz, such as what are your strengths, what are opportunities for development. Consider what is challenging for you and why.
Requirement 4: Faith Integration (suggested length – 1 page)
Reflect upon the ethical and faith implications of the concepts. What are the ethical concerns or implications that arise in conflict and negotiation. Consider how are individuals affected, how is the community or globe at large impacted? Discuss, are these concepts/strategies in line with your personal values/faith beliefs? Do Christian leaders have concerns when engaging in conflict and negotiation? Explain, why or why not. Be sure to support ethical/faith analysis with academic sources and/or the bible.
Requirement 4: Writing Conventions
This paper must adhere to full APA academic essay writing requirements including title page and reference page per APA format. Paper will be in narrative academic essay format per APA and include consistent and accurate citation support per APA requirements. Assertions should be consistently supported with evidence from the required course source material. The last page should be a reference list per APA format and include all sources cited in the paper. Be sure to adhere to student honor code. Reliance on AI generative software is not permitted and constitutes a violation of academic integrity.
