Choose any extant (existing) organism to research other than humans. Be creative but ensure that there is enough existing information to do this report before getting started. The organism does not have to be an animal—insects are fine. Follow the layout below as you construct your paper.
Part 1 (minimum of 3.5 pages)
Provide an overall and thorough description of the organism (e.g., habitat, diet, unique anatomy, and other interesting facts).
Based on what you have found, describe the senses possessed by that organism and its capabilities. You may not be able to find information for every sense, but that is okay. You should be able to characterize at least 3 senses well, but preferably 4 senses. Be sure to discuss the important anatomical structures for each sensory system.
Explain which sense/s is/are considered dominant according to the research. What questions would you like to see investigated pertaining to what is or is not known about the organism? Are there any gaps in the literature?
Part 2 (minimum of 0.5 pages)
Assume one of the following:
You, as a human, suddenly acquire one of the organism’s sensory capacities that is new to you (either because humans lack that sensory capability or humans don’t have it to the same extent).
OR
The organism suddenly acquires one of your human senses that is new to it (either because those organisms lack that sense, or because the range over which that sense works is different for humans than for the organism).
Based on your choice, describe at least two changes you think would happen if you (or the organism) suddenly experienced this enhancement to or detraction from your sensory abilities. This is your chance to be creative.
This assignment assesses ULO 3.2.
Formatting Expectations
The paper should utilize mostly scholarly journal articles (credible websites may be used sparingly but should be limited to two such sources) and be formatted in APA, with in-text citations and a reference page.
The body of the paper should be a minimum of four pages. No abstract is necessary.
The document should be set to 1-inch margins with double-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman font.
