Your paper will cover the following areas:
1. Prior knowledge of the healthcare sector (about 1 page)
Describe your knowledge of the healthcare sector prior to taking this course. In other words, did you know much about health services?
Since taking this course, describe two things that you have learned about the healthcare field (for example, Medicare, Healthy People Program, CDC)?
2. Impact of the five site visits on career interest/planning (about 1 page)
Describe your career interests before taking this class. What had you planned on majoring in?
After rotating through the five sites and learning about various health fields, have your thoughts on your future in healthcare changed?
What impact did each site visit have on your future career plans? Be sure to reflect on the five presentations (Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Radiologic Technology, Vision Care, and Restorative Dentistry). What was appealing/not appealing about each field?
3. Health disparities, health equity, and cultural humility (about 1 page)
In your own words, define (1) health disparities, (2) health equity, and (3) cultural humility — under Open Lab – Week 2.
Search and review Opinion 1.2.2 of the AMA Code of Medical Ethics (Discrimination and Disruptive Behavior by Patients) — under Week Open Lab Week 9.
