The final analysis will be a 6-8 page APA paper, with page 1 being the title page and the final page being a reference page. You will choose the film you wish to analyze from the list provided below the instructions. The paper will have 4 parts. plus a title and reference page. The parts are as follows:
1. In a paragraph, Introduce the film you chose and the 1 character you are choosing. Explain why this film interests you. Offer a brief summary of the film (3 sentences), citing the film. (first person writing allowed in this paragraph)
2. Choose one life stage of development to cover in detail (cognitive, social, emotional, physical), using examples of the character you chose to show how this character is moving through milestones or norms of this stage. Choose 1 stage to cover, even if more than one stage is covered in the film you choose. Choose 1: middle childhood (6-12); adolescence to emerging adulthood (13-19); emerging to early adulthood (age 19 to 45); middle adulthood (45-65); late adulthood (65-death). (3rd person research writing required, using the text, film and at least one researched academic source-could be one used in a module discussion or assignment).
3. Choose to one contemporary theory from the text, beginning on page 18 of the textbook, and apply the theory to your chosen character in the film. Contemporary theories include: Psychosocial Theory/Erikson; Learning Theory/Behaviorism; Social Learning Theory; 1 Cognitive Theory such as Piaget, if choosing middle childhood, or Bronfenbrenner, Vygotsky, or Information Processing Theory for all stages. If your chosen film covers more than one life stage of development, you only need to apply the theory to one life stage, but you can choose to apply it to more than one if you would like in this section. (3rd person research writing required, applying the text, the film, and one additional academic researched source. Can be one from a discussion or assignment).
4. Include a brief concluding paragraph about how well the character demonstrates the stage and theory you covered. Were things about the character that you believe did not fit and why? Did you enjoy the ability to choose your topics for the final assignment? Do you believe analyzing a character assisted you in better applying the course learning? (1st person writing allowed)

• Your paper should have a strong integration of theory, life stage of development chosen, and movie excerpts throughout the paper.
• APA paper format is required, though no abstract is needed. This includes an APA title page, Reference page, 1″ margins, acceptable font (times new roman 12 pt, Calibri 11 pt and Arial 11 pt), double spaced lines of text, page numbers in the upper right hand corner, and APA in-text citations throughout the paper.
• You can use your work/research from the previous modules as a foundation for your analysis if it applies to your character and life stage chosen.
• Include the course textbook, the film, and two additional academic sources (one for theory and one for stage of development or developmental issues for your character).
• 4 FULL pages of text, minimum. 6 pages of text, maximum.
• Final Analysis (180 Points): The final analysis will include your introduction paragraph with thesis statement, application of your chosen theory to your chosen main character from the film, analysis of your character in the life stage of development chosen, coverage of top things you learned in the course and how the information can apply in your future, and a reference page listing the film, textbook, and 3 outside sources used.
