Purpose: The course objectives associated with this assignment are:
Participate in the process of retrieval, appraisal, and synthesis of evidence in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team to improve patient outcomes.
Acquire an understanding of the process for how nursing and related healthcare quality and safety measures are developed, validated, and endorsed.
The purpose of this activity is to create a coherent, researchable PICOT question. Students will learn how to frame a researchable question to begin an evidence-based brief.
Task: Students will search the literature and select a topic of interest. Students will create a PICOT question based on the selected topic. The reference articles for creating a PICOT question are in GA View. The PICOT question must address the relevant parts based upon the type of PICOT question. Please see the articles for PICOT question templates. Students will utilize PICOT question skills to frame a basis for research, discussion, or projects.
Criteria: The grading criteria for the PICOT question are listed below. Please review the grading rubric before submission of the PICOT question. This will assure that you earn the most points for this activity. 75 points must be earned for this assignment to be successful.
