In this final 3-4 page double-spaced essay, discuss the changes you would make to your reboot in terms of television ideology, identity, cultural norms, and the impact of emerging media. It is these areas of focus (ideology, identity, cultural norms, impact of emerging media) that differentiate this paper from the previous two papers.
Your essay should include the following elements:
A brief introduction to the show and description of the show’s original overall premise and the general premise of your reboot (this can be identical to the introduction from your first paper however if you received feedback for revising/improving it, please be sure to do that).
A summary of the primary ways the reboot would change its representations of identity positions and communities as well as how it would reflect the impact of digital technologies and emerging patterns in television production, distribution, and consumption.
Body paragraphs that:
discuss these changes in more detail, providing specific examples of the changes you would make to the show’s representations of social identities (e.g. race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, etc.) as well as examples of how your reboot reflects changes related to emerging media and shifting practices in production, distribution, and consumption.
Integrate direct quotes from 2 course readings that help you explain your choice for why and in what ways you would change the show.
A conclusion where you synthesize your ideas and address how you imagine your reboot will weather changes in the television industry or society going into the future.
Clear sentences so that errors (e.g. grammar, punctuation, mechanics, spelling) don’t interfere with readers’ understanding.
Television show titles should be italicized.
