However, recent research suggests the need for a more nuanced approach.
Using the elaboration likelihood model as a framework, discuss the potential advantages and disadvantages of each approach, considering ethical implications, message tailoring, long-term effects, and relevant research on central vs. peripheral processing. Would a multifaceted campaign that combines both elements be more effective? If so, under what circumstances (audience demographics, topic complexity) and how (specific message design) might such a multifaceted approach be most persuasive?
