The Final
Company Strategic Project is a comprehensive activity that requires the content
from ALL the business courses in the Business Management degree and will
be required by your employers in future years as you grow your careers. To apply this project to your professional
development, you will select a company and industry that you would like to work
upon graduation and assist in your application and interview process. Since Best Buy and Nike have been previously
assigned, these companies are no longer a choice to use for this project. Good companies and industries to use would be
those that you are passionate about and have great interest in. Perhaps you already have hobbies that might
lead you there. Or look up and down
their value chain to see if any of these companies would be of interest as
well. Employers find great employees
throughout their value chain. And if you
are laid off from a company at any time, you can use this same approach to find
employment with as well.
The Final
Company Strategic Project will require that same tools are your case studies,
but with a different focus and outcome.
You not only want to find out all the great things the company does and
how it performs, but also with all the effort you put into gaining employment
and working there, you want to know all of the bad signs as well in order to
make the best employment decision possible.
Project
Requirements: Minimum of 5 Pages of
direct content, single spaced, 12pt font, 1” margins. Charts, graphs and photos belong in the
appendix following the paper. Minimum of
25 sources. Use MLA or APA formatting
for source citations within the paper. AI produced content is not
allowed. Content should include some elements from all Business Management
courses. Comparison statements are also helpful communication tools.
The project process
and content may look something like this:

Introduction:
1) Introduce the company/industry you
would like to work and why. What makes
this the best fit for you personally. (Is your ladder up the right wall to
grow)
2) What does the company/industry offer
that is attractive that you can see long term opportunities in this
industry. (Analytical tools are helpful
here.)
Company/Industry:
1) What is the overall condition of
the industry – In depth, detailed, multidimensional, who are the players,
past/present/future outlooks. Analytical Tools & Coursework – put the
puzzle together to make an accurate picture of the industry.
2) What is the overall condition of
the company – Same as industry, only from the opposite side from the ground
up. How do they fit in the industry they
serve. What role do they play.
3) How does each of the external and
internal environments influence or impact the company’s success or failure.
4) What is the short-term outlook
for the company in this industry and the influences that effect it.
5) What is the long-term outlook
for this company in this industry and the influences that effect it.
6) What overall conclusions can you make
in your evaluation of this company.
Employment
Outlook:
1) What are the growth opportunities for
you as an entry level employee in this company.
2) What are the growth opportunities for
you as an experienced employee in this industry.
3) Who are 3 primary contacts in this company/industry
for you to contact for an informational interview. What is their position, rank, or background
that would be helpful to you.
