Initial Post Directions:
Write a PICOT question related to your Informatics Research Paper topic.
A PICOT question is a framework used in evidence-based practice to formulate a specific and focused research question. The acronym stands for:
P – Patient/Population/Problem: Who are the individuals or groups of interest? What are their characteristics or conditions?
I – Intervention/Exposure: What specific intervention, treatment, or exposure is being considered for the patients?
C – Comparison: What is the alternative or comparison intervention, treatment, or exposure?
O – Outcome: What are the desired outcomes or results that you want to measure or observe?
T – Timeframe (optional): If relevant, what is the specific timeframe for the intervention and outcome?
Example of a PICOT question: In acute care patients with cardiovascular disease (P), does telemetry monitoring (I) compared to absence of telemetry monitoring (C) lead to better blood pressure control (O) over the duration of their hospital stay (T)?
