In your term proposal, you were asked to think of ideas for your topic
and narrow it down to one that is specific enough to fit the scope of
your term paper. Now, in your term paper, hone your topic; hook your
readers; craft your argument and/or research questions; provide in-text
citation.
Term paper requirements:
The length is a word count that must be fulfilled at a minimum of 1,850-2,250 words,
which is a range between 7 and 9 pages—Times New Roman font, size point
12, double-spaced. This word count minimum does not include your title
and works cited.
Write legibly, a clear thesis, topic and/or set of research questions.
Make connection between thesis statement, research questions, and/or
topic, and transitions between point, information, and explanation in
body paragraphs, not just chunks of copied and pasted text that are
isolated. (Watch “PIE” video in Question Guidelines.)
Present your voice without buffering (being a filler) but being
clear and relevant, speaking to the information. (Watch “Whose voice are
you missing” video in Question Guidelines.)
Provide at least six sources. Must use and cite at least three course readings and videos. The rest of the sources can be non-course material.
Write full citations. (See videos in Academic Integrity page.)
If you are providing testimony, you could interview as many people
as you would like to do so for your term paper, or provide personal
experiences and/or observation as evidence. I will accept your usage and
citation of up to two testimonies as sources counting toward your six
sources requirement.
Please make sure to provide in-text citations (include page numbers) in the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion where appropriate, and full citations in your works cited.
