In this week’s discussion, we wrote about the collaborative nature of action research and best practices for implementing change.
Sharing the findings of your action research builds a culture of inquiry. It promotes feedback and reflection to generate new questions, provide new insights, and set the stage for ongoing continuous improvement.
Imagine you are presenting your action research proposal to a group of professional stakeholders who would need to support implementation of the plan. These stakeholders might be a leadership team, board, department, or group of colleagues.
In this assignment, you will create a 5- to 7-minute audiovisual presentation for the professional stakeholders from whom you would require collaboration to implement your plan.
Step 1
Review this module’s required readings and discussion board regarding the best ways to manage change and develop a culture of collaborative inquiry.
Step 2
Select a digital tool to create your narrated presentation with supporting slides or other visuals. See potential presentation tools in the ACE Digital Tools Center.
Create slides or other visuals to present your information. The video should include multimedia elements that engage the intended audience. Apply the tips from the “Writing Creative Presentation Scripts” video at the bottom of these directions.
A best practice is to compose a script or talking points to use while recording the narration.Consider your audience, purpose, and tone in crafting your message. You are not required to submit these speaking notes; they are just helpful for you to prepare for your presentation.
At a minimum, your video must include:
an introduction to the “why” behind the action research method;
persuasive, evidence-based arguments for the importance of the research proposal/problem;
specific data points, graphics, images, and/or multimedia elements to engage the audience and emphasize the main points;
information from the Proposed Action Plan (appendix from your Module 4 assignment), including the problem, research question, solution or intervention strategy, goal, target population, action steps, persons responsible, resources, and timelines;
potential benefits for stakeholders with evidence to support the predictions;
next steps; and
a list of APA-formatted references.
Cite at least three of your scholarly, peer-reviewed sources from your action research proposal paper in this video. The sources must be published within the past 5 years. Include a references list at the end.
Step 3
Practice and record your video.
Use the assignment rubric to informally assess your work and ensure you have met all requirements.
Step 4
Submit your audiovisual presentation using the appropriate assignment submission type (File Upload or Text Entry) for your product. ACE recommends Kaltura for submitting video assignments, regardless of the recording tool used. See the “Submit Kaltura Media to an Assignment” guide for a tutorial.
