In this paper, you will conduct a biopsychosocial and theoretical analysis of a subject of your choosing. Note: although this paper will be graded, in part, based on the quality of writing, I will primarily provide feedback on content rather than writing, since I will have provided you with feedback on your writing previously.
You may use yourself as the chosen subject for the paper. This can be a helpful way of increasing the self-awareness that is important to one’s professional development. Other choices could include a relative, fellow student, significant other, friend, or any other person of whom you have sufficient knowledge. If your subject is someone other than yourself, a family member, or a significant other, then you are are urged to select someone who comes from a significantly different background.
Select one of the following theories to apply to your subject: ecosystems theory (i.e., concepts from systems theories and/or the ecological perspective–chapter 1 in text), learning theory (i.e., respondent conditioning, modeling, and/or operant conditioning–chapter 4 in text), or Erikson’s psychosocial theory (chapter 7 in text—note that this theory is also referenced throughout the text in various life stages).
Format
The theory paper should be typed (12 pt. font), double-spaced, with at least 1 inch margins, and formatted according to the 6th edition of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual. It should be three pages total (two written pages plus a reference page). I will detract points if paper exceeds this length, if the margins are less than 1”, if anything less than 12 point font is used, or if the paper is not double spaced!! Additionally, you are required to cite the text and at least two peer-reviewed, scholarly journal articles that are relevant to the subject’s background, your chosen theory, or professional development. Do not cite articles or chapters that you have not read. Everything that is cited needs to be referenced, and everything that is referenced needs to be cited.
