In this individual assignment, you will conduct research on a specific topic related to media, adolescents, and children. You will create an infographic that visually communicates key findings, as well as write an issue identification paper that discusses your topic of interest in depth.
Instructions:
Choose a specific topic: You will want to get specific here. For example, “Violence and the media” is much too broad of a topic. You will want to focus on violent movies or video games. You will also need to think specifically about age groups. Violent programming that a toddler might watch will have much different effects and purposes from a violent game played by a teenager. This specificity will help you as you search for literature on your topic.
Identify your target audience: Clearly describe your target audience, including age group, demographic, and any other relevant characteristics. Explain why this audience is relevant to your chosen topic and how your infographic is tailored to their needs and interests.
Conduct research: Find at least 5 reputable qualitative and/or quantitative research studies related to your chosen topic. These studies can include journal articles, research reports, or other reliable sources.
Write an issue identification paper: Write a 3-4 page double-spaced paper that identifies and discusses your topic of interest. This means your paper should at least be 3 FULL pages, not including a title or reference page. The paper should have three distinct parts: a broad introduction, a section establishing the problem, and a preview of the research that has already been done on this topic. Follow the APA style, and include at least 5 credible, academic sources with proper in-text citations and a reference page.
