The Application of Data Problem solving.According to (Mcgonigle & Mastrian, 2018), Nursing informatics has been defined as a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice. Besides data collection and information retrieval, the delivery of health services virtually by using information technology is becoming commonplace in many places around the globe.

“Virtual care has been defined as any interaction between patients and or members of their circle of care occurring remotely, using any forms of communication or information technologies, to facilitate or maximize the quality and effectiveness of patient care.” (Murphy & Goossen, 2017). Laureate Education (producer), (2018) Video file, defined as Nursing informatics has integrated nursing science, information management, and analytical science. My Hypothetical scenario.Tracy is a registered nurse who works in a cardiology outpatient clinic.

The medical assistant assigned to the room and took vital signs for the patient came to her and told Tracy about the patient just she put in room #1. The 65yrs old woman who came to see her cardiologist presented with the following complaints. Shortness of breath for one week, lower extremity edema, unable to finish a sentence due to SOB. BP (190/110 mmHg )HR,( 47BPM), weight gain 20lbs within a week, her husband, who accompanied her, states that his wife has refused to take her daily medication for the last two weeks. Depending on the above date, Tracy started her head-to-toe assessment and decided that immediately she must inform the doctor for immediate action to be taken before things got worse.

Dr. Tian, who is her cardiologist, walked to the room and reviewed the data, and did his physical examination. They agreed to call 911 to transfer the patient to the nearby emergency room for further evaluation and treatment and explained the plan to the patient and her husband. Tracy used her nursing knowledge to interpret the findings, and reassured the patient as well as the family to comfort them; she also used further data collection from medical records from the electronic medical record that is EPIC, besides patients verbal communication, she reviewed patients previous visit, the current procedure especially procedures that related to cardiac issues and find out that patient had cardiac ECHO gram that was done three months ago showed heart failure which her doctor put her on the fluid pill and the patient wasn’t taking it appropriately which leads her to fluid overload.

Besides the office medical record, Tracy was able to get a home medication list from the patient’s cell phone by using the device to obtain the correct dose and frequency of the medication. Upon the arrival of the Emergency medical team, Tracy printed out all the patient’s information besides her verbal report. She sent the records to the Emergency room for continuation of care.By Having the data from the patient, family members, and electronic medical record, the health team who was dealing with this specific patient was able to help the patient and able to give proper care, and safe the life of the patient.
