In the essay The Souls of White folks W.E.B. Du Bois provides a multidimensional analysis which identifies the intersection of race and class as both modes of domination and modes of resistance at a global level. The idea of the global color line is that colonialism, slavery, indenture are all different forms of racial domination, resource extraction, and worker exploitation. Based on a close reading of Du Bois show how racism is a form of subjugation, a form of ideology, and a global structure that creates differentiated regimes of labor in the service of wealth generation.
