The purpose of this six-page essay is for students to explore and explain the the symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder, various influential factors (ie., biological and environmental research), as well as describe effective treatments. The end of the essay will conclude with a reflection section and faith perspective. This Essay is worth up to 200 points. 
A successful essay will address the following areas:
Introduction (1 paragraph): Briefly introduce the reader to the topic, using citations when necessary. Outline what will be covered in the paper.
Literature Review:
Symptoms:
Describe the symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Your textbook or the Diagnostic Statistical Manual-5 may be helpful sources, but be sure to paraphrase the symptoms in your own words (do not copy and paste the criterion).
Biological/Genetic:
Using at least two peer-reviewed studies (no websites), discuss what genetic factors have been identified in the development or maintenance of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Summarize the studies, clearly stating the biological factors and how they influence GAD.
Non-Genetic/Environmental
Using at least two peer-reviewed studies (no websites), discuss what environmental factors have been identified in the development or maintenance of GAD. Summarize the studies, clearly stating the non-genetic factors and how they influence GAD.
Treatment
Using at least two peer-reviewed studies (no websites), discuss two effective methods to treat GAD (ie., medication, therapy, etc.). Be sure to summarize the study, explaining the treatments and how it is helpful (ie., reducing which symptoms, improving functioning, etc.).
Discussion/Faith Integration (1-2 paragraphs):
Reflect on the above sections- If someone you know disclosed to you that they had Generalized Anxiety Disorder, how can you apply what you know about influential factors and treatment? In other words, what suggestions/support would you give them?
Discuss ways that anxiety/stress could impact a person’s faith. In other words, how can someone’s anxiety challenge his or her faith? How could someone’s anxiety strengthen his or her faith (ie., dependence on God)? Include scripture to support your perspective.
