Professional presentations are an important component of disseminating research. There are several factors to consider in order to provide an effective presentation. Firstly, having a sound argument for your presentation is important in winning the audiences approval (Zamfir, 2019). This is an area that should be a strength for this presenter, as extensive research and discussion has surrounded the investigation of this project. It is also important to connect with the audience, and build rapport, being careful to read their signals and pace the presentation according to their receptivity (Zamfir, 2019; Tribe & Marshall, 2020) . Given the virtual nature of this presentation, this is predicted to be a definite weakness. Speaking in front of a group of professionals can be nerve wracking as it is, in fact this is an extremely common concern for presenters (Tribe & Marshall, 2020). However the additional element of presenting virtually creates new anxieties to overcome.
One strategy that will be beneficial in overcoming some of these nerves in order to produce a confident presentation will be performing a trial presentation. By practicing the presentation virtually to a friendly audience beforehand, it is possible to work through potential technical glitches, and receive audience feedback. This will allow for greater confidence during the final presentation, and provide some background regarding audience receptivity.
