As you will see at the referenced cite above, you will notice that there are so many ways that the Census Bureau sees the people in the United States as different. For this workshop activity, you are going to be exploring those differences in a way that is productive by looking at your own self.
If you were filling out the census, how would you compare to those around you? How will this impact you? How about your sameness? Will this influence you in a positive/negative way?
Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:
Reflect on ways in which you are different from others.
Navigate personal bias in a way that is productive for acceptance and willingness to explore how others may experience the world differently based on being different.
Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
For this activity, you will be writing an essay. It should be a minimum of 750 words. Make sure to include the following in APA 7e style:

Think about a way in which you are a minority.
In which ways has the minority status impacted your life?
Have you had negative experiences due to this status?
Have you had positive experiences due to this status?
What have you done to combat the negative?
If you do not feel it has impacted you negatively in any way, why do you think that this is the case?
As it relates to other parts of the world, would your minority status be less and/or more accepted in other parts of the world? Why/why not? (Use specific examples so that your instructor is able to see that you understand the content that has been presented by your author. You may also choose to speak about religion and how this might look different for you in other parts of the world.)
