Group 5: Nurses Work & Groups
Nurses offer valuable contribution to the multidisciplinary team. In all levels of healthcare, nurses work within groups to nurture and sustain change. Reflect on the five levels of health care identified by the Canadian Nurses Association (2003); promotive, preventative, curative, rehabilitative, supportive (including home care, long-term care, and palliative care (WHO, 1978).
In your posting:
Identify one or more groups wherein nurses offer leadership and or participation in a health-related group; select an example of an international, provincial, and/or community based group. Briefly describe the purpose of the group, specifically noting what contribution nursing offers. With this insight, and using your chosen group; describe one leadership style the nursing member would potentially employ. How does this approach support the primary values of the nursing profession?
