*Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review sections 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 of Chapter 1 in the text (Chapter 1 attached in file). For this assignment, you will identify one concept from each of the following models that you think is the best description for personality development from that model. Be sure to use proper APA headings to separate your conceptual sections. Address the following models:
1. Psychodynamic- Identifies and describes one concept from the psychodynamic model that is the best description for personality development from that model including the theorist and rationale for why it is the most applicable concept.
2. Neurobiological-Identifies one concept from the neurobiological model that you think is the best description for personality development from that model.
3. Trait- Identifies and describes one concept from the trait model that is the best description for personality development from that model Including the theorist and rationale for why it is the most applicable concept.
4. Cognitive- Identifies and describes one concept from the cognitive model that is the best description for personality development from that model Including the theorist and rationale for why it is the most applicable concept.
*For each of the concepts chosen:
A) Apply a proper APA heading to separate the section.
B) Describe the concept.
C) Identify the theorist associated with the concept.
D) Provide a rationale for why that is the most applicable concept from that model.
* Keep in mind that the object of this assignment is to identify and discuss a specific concept from each model and not to focus on just one model or provide overviews of the models per se.*
***To review examples of the main concept from the psychodynamic model in the Breakdown of Concepts document (Attached in file).***
*For each concept, you must use a scholarly source to support your statements in the paper. Thus, the paper will have a total of four scholarly sources in addition to the textbook(Textbook CH 1 attached in file). Popular websites and your textbook may be used to augment these scholarly sources, but they will not count toward the minimum number of sources needed for the paper.*
*(Notes from the teacher. Please follow this direction) For this assignment, you have been asked to include one concept from each of four models of personality. First of all, this is a course about personality development; therefore, as a general rule of thumb, refrain from using concepts from historical figures. This will also make it much easier for you to explain how the concept explains personality development as you will be asked to do for each of them. I recommend focusing on theorists who have developed concepts that are specifically related to the personality development. For example, for the cognitive model of personality, Piaget is noted in the introductory part of the chapter; however, Piaget is a developmental theorist who did not develop a concept that is directly related to personality development. The same can be said for Chomsky who is a cognitive linguist. As for the trait theory of personality, since you have already discussed the Big Five in the Week 2 Assignment, please use this as an opportunity to learn about another concept (Do not use the Big Five in this paper). The exception to this rule of thumb is the psychodynamic model of personality. Please refer to the list of the concepts that are recommended in the PDF that is posted in the instructions (the Breakdown of Concepts document which is attached in file). Be sure to refrain from writing about one portion of a concept. Usually, the level headings in your textbook will help you to understand what the concept is. Be sure to provide an in-depth discussion of the concepts. As for your discussions about the overviews of each of the models, keep them short. A few sentences about each of them will suffice. At the end of your discussion about each model of personality, be sure to state clearly why you think that the concept you have chosen for a particular model of personality is the most appropriate one. The best way to do that is to write it as follows: This concept is the most appropriate one for this model of personality because… Note that it is necessary to include a comprehensive rationale. This can often be done by comparing it to other concepts within that particular model. Also, don’t forget to include an introduction and a conclusion. Be sure to utilize the course textbook and the scholarly sources you find when writing about these concepts. *
