I will attach the instructions below. Please read and follow ALL OF THEM. I will also attach the paper I wrote that this assignment must be done about, so please read the whole paper as well.
Background
For this assignment, you will 1) revise one of the papers for this class (the summary & response, the analysis paper, the synthesis paper, or the proposalthe exploratory essay,proposal, and the meme paper); AND 2) incorporate in at least one source. This process is meant to teach you that revision done across multiple drafts produces the most effective writing (i.e., breaking you of the I’ll-just-write-this-the-night-before-it’s-due habit). Furthermore, reflecting on this process and this class makes you self-aware of how you’ve changed as a writer.
Assignment
There are 2 major components of this essay:
Secondary revision of ONE of the essays for this class (1-4):
Using “Track Changes,” revise your draft paying special attention to:
Paragraph Structure (MEAL; engaging with sources; in-text citations)
Thesis Statement (is it a true reflection of your argument as it develops throughout you paper? Is it a 3 part thesis? Does it meet the tests we discussed in class?)
Introduction (does it properly prepare your reader for your paper’s focus? Is it in the correct format?)
Conclusion (does it do more than merely summarize—does it also provide the “so what” and “what now?”)
Incorporating in source material
The list of things we learned in this class that we created together
Using “Insert Comment,” identify 7 major changes you’ve made and explain why you’ve made the change and how it improves the paper.
1 of the comments can be about the source you must add
1 -2 comments can address overall stylistic changes to tone, voice, or grammatical issues.
The remaining comments should address larger concerns (i.e., organization, etc.).
Inclusion of an additional source:
You must select an additional and appropriate source that supports your argument or your essay. The source can be a video, article, book, etc., but it needs to help convince the audience of your point or otherwise supports the end goals of the essay.
You must also insert a comment indicating the use of the source – how does it support your overall point? What does it do to enhance your argument? In short, what purpose does it serve? AND YES, this does count as one of the 7 comments.
