I. The Assignments (PROMPT LISTED BELOW, ABOVE IS THE POSTED INSTRUCTIONS FROM PROFESSOR)
Two 5-7 page (double-spaced, plus bibliography) Analytical Papers are due this semester. Using readings from our class, the films we’ve watched together, and outside secondary sources, you will respond to one of a choice of two prompts I will post on Canvas. You will do the research via those sources, apply your analysis utilizing historical context, and come up with a plausible argument or thesis in response to the prompt you choose. You also must include at least one direct quote each from three of your class-assigned readings.
Here are the formatting guidelines for your Analytical Paper. I look forward to reading your work:
Length: 5-7 pages (please make sure that your paper is at least 5 full pages long), double-spaced,
plus bibliography (not included in your page count). I do not mind if you go slightly over 7
pages, but please do not significantly exceed that page limit.
Citations: Please cite your sources and format your bibliography following Chicago style. That said, I am not concerned about text/page formatting, just your references. You do not have to cite information from lectures/class discussions.
II. other required fromattingOther Required Formatting:
*1″ margins on all sides, all pages
*Number pages (numbers can be located anywhere on the page)
*Include your name on the first page
*Standard font (Times New Roman, Calibri, Arial, etc.).
*Give your paper a title
Hello writer! These were the instrcutions given by my professor. I am an A student, but i have to work this week to pay bills so my time is better spent outsourcing this paper.
In regards to the paper he mentioned above, I have completed “film reveiws” of the films we have watched for this class with ctations that i can share with you. This class is a history class told through watching and reveiwing movies about the history of and cuture of los angeles since this school i go to is in LA. we could choose from 2 prompts, and i choose this one because it is easier to write about.
THE PROMPT: How do race, class, and gender serve as foundational themes in the films we’ve watched so far this semester? How have these analytical frameworks been depicted and utilized by the filmmakers? Compare and contrast with the historical narratives and interpretations you’ve encountered in our assigned readings and class discussions. How do the films represent historical perspectives, if at all? Consider the possible consequences of these representations
You will notice the paper is 5-7 pages which conveniently aligns with about one question per page, making the formatting and composition of this paper relatively easy for you to organize and tackle. For the films use these 3 films i watched in class for your analysis; Chinatown (1974), Sunset Boulevard (1950) and Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) You do not need to watch them, chatgpt and google will tell you all the details of the plot that is needed in my opinion
In class sources: http://www.jstor.com/stable/10.1525/j.ctt1pp5j3.7
(chapter 2, beginning on page 36) use this for the film, Devil in a Blue Dress
For the film sunset boulevard: https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.1525/j.ctt1ppmzq.16
Chapter eleven, page 255 for sunset boulevard
https://boomcalifornia.org/2013/09/23/forget-it-jake/
For the film, Chinatown
Additionally he provided these two sources to use, please use at least one of these 2.
What is the Race, Gender, Class Lens?: https://www.albany.edu/~dlafonde/Global/whatisrgc.htm
Race, Gender and Class Intersectionality: https://www.jstor.org/stable/41674988 (you need to access this article through the (my school) library (if you choose this one ill copy paste it into a google doc for you!)
I will attach my files of the corresoding film reviews below. These reviews received A’s. these are brief and will describe the films if youd like to give them a quick read. If any other information is needed for you to complete this, feel free to reach out although im sure you will do an absolutely stellar job. Thanks in advance!!!! <3
