The PP is just to see the construct definitions and citations, to ensure the hypothesis make sense in context of the constructs.
The 5-page summary is because it has the theoretical argumentation for the hypothesis and the “bare-bones” literature review necessary for justifying that model.
The measurement instrument is to ensure you have operationalized all those constructs with measures.
I have also attached Proposal Guidelines from my proffesor and below was his feedback based on what needs to be completed:
A picture helps clarify your words. I still see the propositional model from your initial submission. The reason it’s more propositional than a causal model is because they’re not really latent constructs. You’re either presenting the set of indicators (based on the definition) in the hypothesis due to the awkwardness of saying “Social trends increases”, or you are jumbling together multiple hypothesis into one. I’m guessing it’s the former, but note that if ONE of those don’t work out you have to reject the entire hypothesis. This is more of a proposition. You believe that there is a societal trend… but it’s with regards to a specific type as I don’t see skin exposure, processed foods consumption, etc, etc present. If it truly is not a proposition (category of things), but rather an unobservable construct then It’s better to call it something that is closer to what your indicators are… perhaps social degradation, societal division as this exercise of being exact would force you to be more comprehensive in your definition and your indicators. It’s not “leadership styles” that moderates that specific relationship, but a specific type of leadership (transformational, transactional, etc) or characteristic of leader that makes that relationship stronger or weaker. It’s all very propositional at the moment, so let’s make it more grounded; just ensure there’s alignment between the (1) construct’s name, (2) definition, and (3) measures. The hypothesis will make sense then. Consider this throughout (societal trends, organizational policies, and so on). It’s good where you defined corporate culture to be more about polarization, so just follow suit with the others. Perhaps Organizational Policies are “DEI Policies” or “Interpersonal Policies” Just be clear in defining what those are based on the body of knowledge.
This will also help you find the relevant literature to make a compelling case for each of your arguments. You need to have a major premise and minor premise for your hypothesis, and should support each hypothesis with 2-3 articles. This is something I’ve mentioned in class multiple times but I don’t see it unless you tried to focus the literature review on this aspect. This will become cleaner with the refinement in what you mean. Try to build these theoretical arguments where you present your hypothesis as the literature review is intended to be broader based on the way the DV has been studied (laying out the body of knowledge and the gap your work addresses). For the purposes of the Summer it’s ok if your theoretical arguments are well-developed and you still need to broaden the literature review some, so focus there.
All of what follows has been discussed several times in all the classes so far as a workshop, but the only way to give you more specific help is to have you leverage the 1-on-1 meeting offer, or for you to offer your study for working on during class. If you’re interested where the “bar” is, this has also been discussed, but in your case you do not have to complete the IRB itself as there is no point in wasting resources to submit it. The requisite items are the attachments that are submitted with it: measurement instrument, which requires careful definition and operationalization of your constructs, and the 5-page summary which essentially is a hyper-summarized version of your proposal (with the emphasis placed on the theoretical development for your hypothesis). Make sure the measurement instrument includes demographics. I see you created one in Topaz but don’t bother with that, just send me the attachments.
