I am applying to Chapman University in Orange, California as a Business major with an emphasis in real estate (freshman). I need a short essay to state why I am a good fit for the college on the common application (it needs to be specific to this college). I am not supposed to write about why the program will provide opportunities for me (they already know this). I am supposed to explain why I am a good college fit for them. Please don’t state facts like the ranking of their school or the small class size. It has been suggested to get a syllabus and talk about the classes you will be taking and how you will learn from the classes and apply it to your future. I need to write about specific things about their program that make me a good fit for their school (what do I bring to the table). Here is more background information: I chose Chapman to attend the prestigious Argyros School of Business. The program attracts me because of the various paths it offers -. finance, marketing, and what I want to specialize in: real-estate. The school provides access to state-of-the-art technology and world-renowned professors to help me become an innovative and creative thinker to solve challenging problems. The real estate classes that I will take will benefit me include: Principles of Real Estate. This course covers the fundamentals of real estate. Topics include property types, market analysis, real estate management and development, brokerage and appraisal, legal and regulatory issues, and investment analysis. Real Estate Finance An examination of debt and equity financing for residential and commercial real estate properties. The course provides a foundation in real property valuation and underwriting and the debt and equity financing alternatives available in the capital markets. Other topics include real estate cash flow analysis, secondary mortgage markets, securitization, and REITs. AND Real Estate Law An examination of the legal issues involved in real estate acquisition, disposal, investment, and development. Topics include the nature and scope of real property, legal aspects of real estate transactions, land use and regulation, and ethical issues in real estate. I also want to participate in their study abroad business program in Europe (why will this make me a global problem solver?). I also want to pitch an business idea to the Panther Cage (think Shark Tank) and see if I can get funding for it. Lastly, I would like to get certified in their Bloomberg certification program. Socially here is what I bring to Chapman: I have toured Chapman, spoken to students and sensed a welcoming sense of inclusiveness. Chapman offers a diverse list of clubs to get involved in and provides community service opportunities. I want to join your indoor and beach volleyball programs and participate in efforts to give back. Chapman has a strong network to connect me with multiple industries to help build my professional network for internships and future employment. Thank you.
