I have created a sink or float lesson using aluminum boats and pennies. I have included the lesson plan labeled (ED552_Draft_Lesson_Plan). This is a step by step of the lesson that you can use to create an analysis. I have also attached a template labeled (Example Analysis of Students Work) that you should follow.
In the lesson, I broke it down in 3 topics to help . So, these should be the 3 main areas of understanding that I aimed to increase during the lesson.
1. Playful Sorting (there is a handout at the bottom of “Draft Lesson Plan”)
2. Float or Sink (Pre Test) (there is a handout at the bottom of “Draft Lesson Plan” this is to see what they know about sinking and floating before the lesson)
3. Float or Sink (Post Test) (use same handout at the bottom of “Draft Lesson Plan” this is to see what they remembered after the lesson)
Bar graphs are needed.
The bar graph is for one for the pre-test and one for the post-test. The x-axis would represent the different levels of understanding (above average, average, below average, and no understanding), and the y-axis would represent the number or percentage of students falling into each category.
For the pre-test bars, they might show a higher number of students in the average, below average, and no understanding categories, with a smaller number in the above average category. The post-test bars would ideally show an increase in the number of students in the above average category, a decrease in the number of students in the average, below average, and no understanding categories, indicating an overall improvement in student understanding.
The visual representation of the bar graph would provide a clear comparison between the pre and post-test assessment results, highlighting the progress made by the students following the lesson on aluminum boats and pennies.
As well as rubrics. (the students are all 2-3 years of age and they all can speak english except for one, so rubric should be age appropriate.)
If there is anything you have questions about, could you please just send me a message.
I am attaching the Example Analysis to this order so that you can see the format & exactly what needs to be done. (You DO NOT have to do the bottom part that says reflection)
