I have copied and pasted 2 peers discussion post and I need to respond to them.
PEER 1:
1.) Vaccinations have made it so that people live longer. A lot of the diseases that have killed off many people in the past have been stopped in their advances because of the creation of vaccines. Vaccines have changed people’s everyday lives for the better. It helps people not live in constant fear that they are going to get or die from certain diseases.
2.) It is very important that most people get vaccinated for diseases such as measles and mumps because it can spread rapidly. If people keep getting these diseases then there won’t be a stop to them. It will be an ongoing cycle of people continuously getting sick and getting others sick.
3.) I think people should be vaccinated, but I do agree that people should have the choice to do so because back when COVID was rapid they made it mandatory for certain places to force their workers or students to get vaccinated if they wanted to continue attending that school or place of work. I wasn’t too keen on it especially since the COVID-19 vaccine was created so quickly and with not a lot of testing and there were still a lot of questions about whether it would do more harm than good. On that front, I think people should still be able to have the freedom to choose, but I’m all for it if the vaccines have been tested appropriately. When a lot of children are not vaccinated it increases the likelihood that not only themselves but others will get sick.
PEER 2:
I think vaccines have allowed the population to grow and for the life expectancy to grow as well. When you are vaccinated against deadly diseases, they allow you to have extra protection to allow you to live longer and not be threatened by as many deadly things. The viruses that once would have scared everyone into isolation, now are not even a second thought.
It is important for most people to get vaccinated because then it would be less likely for an outbreak to happen in the population. If everyone got vaccinated then the virus would eventually die off to virtual extinction.
I think there is always a fine line when it comes to requiring citizens to do something when it comes to their bodies. Their free will must always be in account, but in theory, if every child was required to get vaccinated then there would not be any outbreaks of things like chicken pox. I do believe that businesses have the right to require this of their customers, like preschools.
